
Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana
Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY) has been launched to provide better irrigation facilities to farmers and efficient use of water resources in the agricultural sector. The main objective of this scheme is to ensure 'water to every farm'.

Objective of the scheme:
1. To expand the irrigation area.
2. To prevent wastage of water and make efficient use of water resources.
3. To conserve water and maintain groundwater level.
4. To promote drip and sprinkler irrigation under 'Per Drop More Crop'.
5. To provide irrigation facility to every farm.
Main components:
1. Centrally funded schemes for rapid irrigation.
2. Development and management of water resources.
3. Water Harvesting.
4. 'More Crop Per Drop':
Promotion of micro irrigation (drip and sprinkler system).
5. Watershed Development:
Construction of water retention system, ponds, check dams etc. in the fields.
Major benefits of the scheme:
1. Water saving: Better use of every drop of water.
2. Reduction in cost of cultivation: Reduction in cost of irrigation through micro irrigation.
3. Increase in crop production: Crop productivity increases due to better irrigation facility.
4. Relief in drought affected areas: Farming possible even in areas with less water.
Eligibility for the scheme:
All types of farmers (marginal, small, large farmers).
Farmers themselves, FPO (Farmer Producer Organization), cooperative groups and Panchayati Raj institutions.
How to apply:
1. Apply online:

2. Common Service Center (CSC):
Apply by visiting the nearest CSC center.
3. Agriculture Department:
Contact the Agriculture Department of your district.

Bank passbook
Land ownership certificate
Farm details and crop information
Subsidy available under the scheme:
50-70% subsidy on drip and sprinkler systems.
Special benefits to small and marginal farmers.
Subsidy may vary according to states.
Financing:
The central and state governments share the cost of the scheme in the ratio of 75:25.
In the northeastern states, this ratio is 90:10.
Success of the scheme:
Lakhs of hectares of land have got irrigation facilities.
Farmers' income has increased.
Water has been saved due to water conservation techniques.
